The official campaign period have begun for local candidates across the country. One of the more interesting cities to watch out for in the 2019 elections is Makati - now torn between two Binays.

But more interesting is the Vice Mayoral race for the city. Running for Vice Mayor under Jun Binay’s ticket is the Olympian, Philippine Team’s Chef de Mission in the 2019 SEA Games, high performing Congressman of the 1st District of Makati - Monsour del Rosario. During their party’s first motorcade last Saturday, 30 March, people cheered Monsour as he enthusiastically greeted them from his truck. At one point he even came down to be closer to the people on the ground.

“It’s touching to see this kind of enthusiasm from our friends here in Makati. Some people come to us thanking us for staying in Makati instead of going for a Senatorial seat. Some people are also thanking us for having helped them. We cannot forget about them. The people on ground are the people we must serve. Every candidate must never forget that amidst the political conflicts,” Monsour said.

He added that he has great plans for the people in Makati as Vice Mayor.

“I will bring the City Hall closer to the people. My dream for Makati is to be FIRST CLASS. First class service is all about ease and efficiency in bringing our programs to the people. First class education is all about the quality of teachers, classrooms and facilities - not just about shoes! First class in public facilities. First Class in peace and order! All of those things we can do with 18 billion peso budget. People of Makati deserve every peso in that budget and that’s what we will give them when we win in May!”
