The holiday season is the most magical time of the year, but there is  another, darker Christmas legend whose shadow over pop culture is  growing. Ancient folklore warns of Krampus, a myth that has been traced back centuries throughout European cultures.  A horned beast who captures disobedient children for Christmas, Krampus is part merry, part monster. Santa rewards the nice; Krampus punishes the naughty.  Santa brings laughter and joy; Krampus unleashes darkness and mayhem. Santa gives presents; Krampus takes souls. Now the legendary Krampus is immortalized in a new film that will cast a merrily malicious shadow over Christmas for years to come. Legendary Pictures’ “Krampus,” the darkly festive tale of this yuletide ghoul, reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday.

Chris Hemsworth powers through a different adventure as he stars as whaling ship Essex First Mate Owen Chase, in Warner Bros. Pictures' “In the Heart of the Sea.” Based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the dramatic true journey of the Essex, which in the winter of 1820, was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s *Moby-Dick*. “I loved the script from the start,” gushes Hemsworth. “‘In the Heart ofthe Sea’ is about heroism and people being tested beyond their limits in absolutely every way. I was also captivated by the psychological thriller aspect of the whale turning the tables on them. There is something incredibly mysterious about how this animal is portrayed—why the whale goes on the attack, which was unlike anything the Essex crew had ever encountered. The hunter becomes the hunted.”   The Nantuck

It takes strength and determination to be a world-class fighter. But for Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), even with boxing in his blood, it will take something more: Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone). To step out from the shadow of Apollo Creed, the father he never knew, Adonis must get Rocky back in the ring. Although the former champ has been out of the fight game for some time, Adonis reminds him of the tough, young upstart he himself once was. After some prodding, Rocky agrees to train him, his way, in Warner Bros. Pictures' new boxing thriller, “Creed.” The challenge of re-envisioning the ultimate underdog story that began with “Rocky” was one that writer/director Ryan Coogler considered even before he was out of film school. “I grew up watching ‘Rocky’ movies with my dad; it was our thing,” he states. “Rocky is a character that people just connect with—action fans, drama fans, hopeless romantics, even just movie fans—everyone likes ‘Rocky’ movies because they h

Historical films, which were once considered unexciting, have now crossed over to mainstream pop culture thanks to the unprecedented success of the movie Heneral Luna . The film has sparked a yearning and curiosity among Filipino filmgoers for movies with a similarly rich historical and cultural value. Among the films that have gained renewed attention is the 2014 epic Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo . Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo earned the Best Picture plum at last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (as well as this year’s Star Awards and FAMAS) and is considered to be the unofficial kick-off to the historical wave that Heneral Luna started. The film even featured a mid-credit teaser of Heneral Luna during its cinema run. With the same producers behind both films, movie fans will now have a chance to relive the revolution and see Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo once again with the limited theatrical release of the movie’s Producers’ and International Cut. Walt Disney Animation Studios has just unreeled a new trailer for its upcoming comedy-adventure “Zootopia.” The trailer puts a hilarious spin on that dreadful frustration people feel when their fate is in the hands of not-so-efficient bureacracy. “Zootopia” is directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “Lilo & Stitch”). The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to
