Sabado cast
The cast and crew behind the indie film "Sabado" went home glorious after grabbing six winning trophies out of the nine nominations recognized at the at the 2019 Gawad Sining Film Festival Awards Night held at UPFI Film Center at University of the Philippines-Diliman in Quezon City.

Sabado's lead star Nico Locco won Best Actor and Carlo Alvarez announced as Best Director. It also won Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Rachel Jacob, Best Sound and Best Music.
Director Carlo Alvarez

The film is a commentary on infidelity, human trafficking and murder with Locco playing a freelance cinematographer who strives to be the best father he can be. It has a dark and cynical tone worthy of follow-up discussions with the creators and even those who've watched the film as well.
With Nico Locco

Locco's portrayal embodies
the whole cycle of humiliation, shame, anger, love, hate and violence. Some scenes were strange and I think I felt it that way because that was how the director wanted to communicate the unusual things we do for love. It's an experience that left me jaw dropping especially towards the end of the film.

Sabado's Director's Cut will have a special screening at the UPFI Film Center Videotheque on January 9, 14, 17 and 18, 2020.
