Cong Monsour Del Rosario Brought Passion For Sports In The Congress

Taekwando superstar and now Congressman of the 1st District of Makati, Monsour Del Rosario, led the move to push for a law that will help young Filipino Athletes to achieve their Olympic dreams.

“Since day 1 in Congress back in 2016, I started working for a law to establish a new Sports Training Center in the Philippines. And I am quite proud and happy to be one of the principal authors of the bill that our President Duterte signed into law today (February 14, 2019). I laud his move - you know, he’s the only President who made this possible. He heard the cries of the Sports Community - the cries of our young athletes! Imagine, Olympic-grade sports center where facilities are state of the art. Imagine future Olympians. It’s within reach! I’m so excited,” said the Philippine’s Chef de Mission for the 2019 SEA Games to be held here in the Philippines.

In his capacity as one of the principal authors, he gave important inputs and comments during committee deliberations for this bill.

“The last sports center was built in 1934 - the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex. It’s older than my parents!,” he added.  “So let’s go Team Pinas! I dream of discovering more Pinoy Olympians who will win gold for the Philippines! It’s about time!”

Cong. Monsour del Rosario was awarded Man of the Year in Taekwondo back in 2017 by the World Taekwondo Federation  - an honour that no one outside of Korea has achieved before.

He's presently running for Vice Mayor of Makati City.
