Senator Manny Pacquiao receives $100,000 from ISPS Handa

Boxing champion and Senator Manny Pacquiao was recently named as one of the global ambassadors of the International Sports Promotion Society (also known as ISPS Handa).

In a press conference held at the Makati Shangri-La last Wednesday, October 17, ISPS Handa representatives namely Executive Director Ms. Midori Miyazaki and Country Director Kevin O' Brien conferred the recognition to the acclaimed boxing icon, and officially turned over its contribution to the senator's charity foundation (Pacquiao's Emmanuel & Jinkee's Foundation) amounting to $100,000. Proceeds will be mainly used to help children on their basic needs.

Executive Director of ISPS Handa Ms. Midori Miyazaki shared that ISPS is thoroughly and incredibly grateful that Pacquiao is happy to represent us. "The values that ISPS carry is about the power of sports, it’s about what sports can give back to the society,”

Founded by Haruhisa Handa, the Japanese charitable organization has gained renown for its active involvement and sponsorship in major global gold tournaments and has also played a major role in the promotion of blind golf worldwide. He met Pacquiao earlier this year in Japan that paved the way for this partnership. "We have become good friends since then. Since we are both sports enthusiasts, we share the same vision of using sports to bring people together and promote world peace, and I am happy to know that this is the same vision that has inspired ISPS Handa since it began."

Apart from Pacquiao, other Ambassadors include former New Zealand Prime Minister Sir John Key, former Prime Minister of Ireland Enda Kenny, International rugby icons Dan Carter, Francois Pienaar and Mike Tindell as well as top rank golf pros including Lydia Ko, Ernie Els, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie, Thornbjorn Olesen, Emiliano Grillo and Lee Westwood.

Manny Pacquiao reclaimed the WBA World Welterweight title after defeating Argentinian fighter Lucas Matthysse during their fight of Champions at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last July 15. Manny is  set to fight Adrien “The Problem” Broner in January 2019, details are not yet finalized but he said the match would probably take place in the US. He will announce soon he's rematch with Mayweather.
