The Beguiled Thrills You With Its Silence

"The Beguiled" is an atmospheric thriller from acclaimed writer/director Sofia Coppola. The story unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls' boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier. As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.

Considering the profiles of its cast, I was expecting an enthralling performance from them and I wasn't disappointed with special mention to Kirsten Dunst and Nicole Kidman. Its storyline was highlighted in the quietness of the film but an assured thrilling atmosphere.

It's unpredictable that it's worth staying until the end. The film doesn't require you to scream just to let out the thrilling scenes. Its calmness is enough to keep you in your seats and have an intimate character know-how.

The film centers on its crisp and quiet dialogue with no distractions coming from a background music.
