Chikkaness Staycation: Marco Polo Ortigas

For accountants, the busiest days of the month comes during month-end because we need to close accounting books and ensure that the financial accounts are properly stated. The May month-end was the same as that of others but I just felt that I need to unwind and give myself a break not just from work but also from the pressures in life. I just wanted to enjoy the luxury of having to bond with myself and think through on my priorities for the second half of the year.

I booked myself for an overnight stay at Marco Polo Ortigas hotel to enjoy a 5-star experience because I have living a life worthy of 5-star compensation. Naks!

I arrived at around 3pm and was received with warm welcome by the receptionist at the 24F. Then she assisted me to have a drink and snack at the Connect Lounge. I enjoyed their set of sandwiches and pastries while amazed on lounge's sophisticated ambiance.

My superior room was situated at 32nd floor facing the street where Metrowalk is. It was spacious with earth colors for an assuring and calming experience. Most of the time I was just enjoying the comforts of my bed while watching TV (I even overslept the next day that I only had myself an hour to enjoy the breakfast buffet). I don't feel the need to go out that much because the room has the amenities already - stable Wifi, multi-channel LCD color TV, Mini Bar with chocolates, and the best Nespresso Coffee Machine (though I did not try operating it hahaha).

I enjoyed the pleasures of taking a bath through a tub and indulge myself in a bubble bath. I think I took almost an hour just being immersed in the water while playing with the bubbles (you could only imagine what I've been doing). I like their bathroom as it's clean and it has all the stuff that I need.

In the early evening, I checked out their indoor infinity pool at the 22nd floor. It has great view as I think I tend to appear more beautiful with the lights of the skyline as my backdrop.

I promised myself that I will not check work-related email but I can't help not to so I spared myself an hour in front of my laptop and wore my manager hat as I work it over at their executive desk.

I woke up with a smile the next day and had a sip of coffee while facing the window seated at the couch with ottoman. Watching from afar is just a good way to start my day as it makes me feel that there's more to be excited in life way beyond what I can actually see.

I headed then to Cucina restaurant at the 24th floor where I indulged myself on their complimentary breakfast. My favorite was their champorado as I missed eating such. They have a good selection of fruits, breads and pastries for you to enjoy. They also served healthy drinks and can even customized the juices for you.

Check out my vlog here as I walk you through on my staycation at Marco Polo Ortigas.
