Ms Baby Go Celebrates Birthday; Introduces New Film "Balatkayo"

I'm honored that I was invited to the birthday celebration of one of the most loved movie producers in the business, Ms Baby Go of BG Productions International held at Marco Polo Hotel Ortigas last February 5, 2017.

Alongside her birthday celebration was the presscon of her twelfth movie entitled "Balatkayo" that stars Aiko Melendez, Polo Ravales, Natahlie Hart, Rico Barrerra and introducing James Robert. Also in the cast are Melissa Mendez, Kristine Barretto, Vangie Labalan, Lui Mananzala, Ernie Garcia and Jess Evardone. The film is written by Jason Paul Laxamana and under the direction of Neal Tan.

The film "Balatkayo" tells the story of OFWs who are working hard in other countries to provide a better life for their families. With the aim to become richer and a good provider, critical relationships are being sacrificed and sometimes found temptation that could ruin a once happy family. A married couple, both OFWs but working in different countries played by Aiko and Polo will be faced with a problem where their son (James) will be involved in a sex scandal. As the story unfolds, it will be told that both have been having extra-marital affairs in the country they're working on. Ms Baby Go did not think twice on putting money to this project where scenes were shot in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore. The film will be screened first in Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore before its Philippine premiere.

Ms Baby Go was recently recognized as "Most Outstanding Filipino in the Field of Independent Cinema Productions and Aesthetics" by Gawad Amerika and "Outstanding Independent Producer" by World Class Excellence Japan-Philippines Organization. The films of BG Production International have continuously been reaping awards from different award-giving bodies like in the recently concluded 15th Gawad Tanglaw awards (organized by academic practitioners from different schools nationwide) where Allen Dizon was hailed Best Actor of "Iadya Mo Kami," Aiko Melendez won Best Supporting Actress in the same film, Special Jury Prize for "Area," Best Children Film for "Child Haus," Student Choice for Best Film Award for "Laut," Best Editing went to Gilbert Obispo for "Area" and Best Production Design was won by Cyrus Khan of "Laut." Louie Ignacio's "Laut" is slated to compete in a prestigious international film festival in USA this coming March and April.

In the same event, Ms Go announced the upcoming projects of BG International  including the horror film to be directed by Italian director Paolo Bertola, satire comedy on environmental issues to be directed by Joel Lamangan, another horror story under the direction of Mel Chionglo, and the film "Nuclear Family" under the direction of Jason Paul Laxamana. She hopes that she could have one of her films join the annual MMFF coming December 2017.

Meanwhile, get to know the newcomer James Robert in this interview where he talks to me what happened during the scene where he was required to do frontal nudity.
