SEKYU Movie Review

"Sekyu" is a sprawling investigation of the plight of security guards and the society therein. Allen Dizon has been consistently providing above par performance in his work making him a favorite to win acting awards. In the film, he did it again as he delivered another absorbing performance worthy of commendation. He is one of those where the character his portraying truly excites the viewer because you just know something interesting is going to happen when he does.

Written by Ricardo Lee and directed by Joel Lamangan, “Sekyu” tells about a poor but honest security guard (played by Allen Dizon) who accidentally kills his wife and later gets involved in a robbery that sends him to jail. He co-stars with an ensemble of good actors like Sunshine Dizon as his wife, Rez Cortez, Melai Cantiveros Raquel Villavicencio, Jim Pebanco, Kristoffer King, and Solomon Mark de Guzman.

After its Philippine premiere last Sunday, November 15 at the Fisher Mall, “Sekyu” is slated to compete at the 21st Kolkuta International Film Festival (World Cinema section) that will be held at Calcutta, India.
