Zsa Zsa Padilla Sings New Album With "Beginnings"

Zsa Zsa Padilla is singing her way back to the light with BEGINNINGS.

The country’s celebrated singer and iconic diva, Zsa Zsa Padilla returns in the recording studio with BEGINNINGS, her new release in three years and home to several standout tracks in the 10-song easy-listening collection released by Polyeast Records.

Dubbed as Divine Diva for her impeccable talent, Zsa Zsa’s music has evolved since her debut as a PolyEast Records artist.  The new album is lauded with refreshing ‘70s and ‘80s covers and expresses an inspirational warmth, honest talent and humble grace of a woman who’s paying tribute to a love the second time around.

It is easy to see why she is thrilled about this album as Zsa Zsa said on her liner notes, “The last studio album I did was a personal to me. Although it was filled with original OPM songs, I had just lost a great love so when I listen to it now; I find it a bit sad and yes, at times angry. I was still grieving and never I though it possible to love again.

Her last album was 2013’s “Palagi” which includes eight lushly orchestrated numbers like the duet with Martin Nievera in “Maging Sino Ka Man” and her version of Joey Albert’s “Palagi” were released after her loss of husband, Comedy King, Dolphy.

Following up to her Gold record album “Unchanging Love” (2008) and “Palagi”, her third offering with PolyEast Records brings out a new energy for Zsa Zsa— capturing her period of transition, from experiencing the loss to opening a new chapter of her life. “Never stop believing in the power of second chances.  Thank you for being with me in this new chapter of my life,” she shared.

The new album opens with the first single “Just a Love Song,” a revival from the 70s’ pop ballad of singer-songwriter Walter Murphy—a proof that when it comes to shiny, multipurpose pop, nobody does it better than the Divine Diva. Other songs also include remakes from Bee Gees, Carpenters, and Chicago among others.

PolyEast Records and I was urged to come up with an album that I hope everyone enjoy 10 tracks of some of my favorite music from the 70s and one song from the 80s which recently became the theme of my concert and appropriately the title of this album,” Pertaining to her latest Valentine concert titled “Beginnings” held at the Music Museum and upcoming show on July 31, 2015 at the Resorts World, where she performs her newly recorded songs.

So as Zsa Zsa began working with PolyEast Records on her third record, both parties came up with handful of handpicked love songs veering away from the high notes but maintaining her vocal signature. Other notable recycled compositions include “I Love You More Today Than Yesterday” (Spiral Staircase); “I Just Want to be your Everything” (Andy Gibb); “How Deep Is Your Love” (Bee Gees); “Rainy Days and Mondays” (Benet): “If You Leave Me Now” (Chicago); “Alone Again Naturally” (Gilbert O’Sullivan); “One Hello” (Randy Crawford); “I Got Caught Dancing Again” (Hues Corporation).

Zsa Zsa debuted her singing career in 1983 and have sustained such a long string of hits that are landmarks in many of our lives like Hiram, Mambobola and Ikaw Lamang to name a few. With a voice that stands like monuments upon the landscape of Pinoy music for the past three decades, Zsa Zsa remains on top.
