Chikkaness Review: Talk Back And You're Dead - A Gangster Movie With Equal Measures Of Emotional Pain And Romantic Buoyancy

The tandem of James Reid and Nadine Lustre is progressively winning me over, partly because they keep getting better especially in their latest romance flick, "Talk Back and You're Dead" It's a gangster movie with equal measures of emotional pain and romantic buoyancy. Talk Back And You're Dead  centers on Sam (Lustre), a rich and pretty schoolgirl who gets caught between Top (Reid) and Red (Marco), both leather-clad members of the same gang. Director Andoy Ranay presents the promising actors that his leads could become. Though their are some minor bumps especially on how the story was presented, it is still filled with romantic scenes that will definitely make your day plus the machismo of James Reid is all over the movie. Nadine Lustre is beautiful and evidently pushed herself to deliver a memorable performance as Sam. James Reid has provided a different personality to his stereotypical character Tom. Joseph Marco may have not been given more air

Mas nararamdaman ko ang pagiging aktres ko sa Ikaw Lamang - Kim Chiu

A lighter role for 2014 Yahoo! Actress and Celebrity of the Year,  Kim Chiu this time in Ikaw Lamang as she takes on the role of Andrea, the daughter of Isabelle and Franco.  She felt that she's more of an actress now as she shares the scenes with caliber actors especially with the entrance of the likes of Christopher de Leon, Joel Torre, Amy Austria, among others. She's looking forward on how she could bond with co-star KC Concepcion in the series though they've been together already in some Kapamilya shows.  Under the direction of Malu Sevilla, Manny Palo, and Avel Sunpongco, “Ikaw Lamang” is the master teleserye of ABS-CBN which is under the production of Dreamscape Entertainment Television. Don’t miss the newest revelations and characters in the timeless “master teleserye,” “Ikaw Lamang,” weeknights after “Hawak Kamay” on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. The first grand champion of “The Voice Kids Philippines,” Lyca Gairanod, will share her touching life story in ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday (August 16). In preparation for the episode where she will be portraying herself, Lyca underwent an acting workshop under the supervision of “MMK” director Nuel Naval and veteran actress Malou de Guzman. “In ‘MMK,’ viewers will see my life before I joined ‘The Voice Kids’,” said the nine-year-old singing champion, who was called the “Little Superstar” during the competition. “Crying on cue was not so hard because Direk Nuel and Ms. Malou were there to guide me,” shared Lyca about how Naval and De Guzman helped her in her dramatic scenes. Lyca, a small kid with big dreams from Tanza, Cavite, gained popularity for her heartfelt, amazing performances in “The Voice Kids” and humble background as a daughter of a fisherman. She would also sometimes help her mother scavenge for junk to sell.

CHECK OUT: The Gifted Official Trailer

A dark comedy is set to premiere on September 3 as Viva Films brings you the box-office partnership of Anne Curtis and Cristine Reyes in "THE GIFTED" with Sam Milby as their leading man. Written and directed by Chris Martinez, the story follows the friendship of two gifted girl bestfriends who turned out to be enemies as they fight for the attention of a man.  An obese Anne Curtis and an ugly Cristine Reyes with big nose, buck teeth, and bushy eyebrows will be seen in the movie. Both will transform into sexy and beautiful ladies that are in competition with each other. The trailer seems to be promising and full of LOL moments. This is different from what they've done in "No Other Woman" but I'm anticipating this to be a success.

Chikkaness Review - HUSTISYA - Nora Aunor Defined A Gray Character With Justice

Lamangan's Hustisya has the energy of a picture that well depicted the realities of poverty and corruption in the society. The film is centered on how a woman chooses to be become a victim or victimizer on the world she's in. The emotions evoked by the movie are honestly earned because of its strong cast led by Ms Nora Aunor and with dedicated support from Rocco Nacino, Rossana Roces, and Chynna Ortaleza.  As a foul-mouthed woman Biring, working for a human trafficking agency, Aunor exudes the sympathetic and confused persona of a woman who has already been consumed by the corruption of the society she’s in. She still earned my sympathy even though hers is a gray character – fearful, determined, baffled, and loving. A rightful Best Actress winner, this will be Nora’s one of the unforgettable and spellbinding performance to date. The film deserves to be commended on musical scoring for Emerzon Texon, production design for Edgar Martin Littaua, supporting actress for C

Chikkaness Review: THE JANITOR - Clean Storytelling With Clear Vision Accomplished

One of the Cinemalaya entries this year that left me attentive throughout its screening time is Michael Tuviera's THE JANITOR. A film that was able to accomplish what its vision is - expose how justice is being served in some of the high-profiled crimes in the country and helping its audience understand the struggles of the people involved. Without justifying where the lead actor is coming from, the story is a wake-up call that someone has to step up to clean up the mess in the society like that of a janitor. Tuviera  The film follows the story of Crisanto Espina (Dennis Trillo), a policeman under suspension who was tasked to kill the suspects of a bank robbery and massacre. Trillo gives a strong, increasingly riveting performance as the cop who wanted to please his superior to be able to redeem his name.  It has an amazing screenplay with action sequences executed with brilliance. It also has one of the ensemble casting I've ever seen. Small roles were executed
