Chikkaness Cinephile's Guide: National Film Festival 2013 Entry "SONATA"

The ever reliable team-up of directors Lore Reyes and Peque Gallaga will be witnessed once again in the big screen via SONATA. Cherie Gil as the main lead and producer of the movie, stars as an opera diva who is about to give up on her life but have met a young boy who give her a new perspective on love and life.

Shot in Bacolod City for eight days, this will also be Cherie's big screen reunion movie with Direk Reyes and Gallaga whom she initially worked on the classic, "Oro, Plata, Mata."

The movie will also feature Ilonggo actors who were products of Peque's acting workshops before together with Chart Motus, Joshua Pineda, Chino Jalandoni, and Richard Gomez.

Chikkaness' Impressions: Judging from the trailer, Sonata seemed to be a compelling story that is beautifully shot and acted. It appears to be an emotionally charged movie that is both rewarding and inspiring. The child actor featured in the movie is authentic and his acting blends well with that of A-list star Cherie Gil. What I'm excited about the movie is the fact that I will be watching a different Cherie from her usual kontrabida roles.
SONATA is one of the entries in this year's Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival 2013 All-Masters Edition that will run from September 11 - 17 at all SM Cinema Branches Nationwide.

The movie is graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
