Chikkaness Review: THY WOMB - an important Filipino film accompanied by breathtaking acting that leaves a big-time emotional punch

Brillante Ma Mendoza triumphs again, highlighting Nora Aunor’s blistering and brilliant performance as a wife who’s willing to do personal sacrifices for her husband’s wishes to come true.

Bembol Roco, Lovi Poe, Mercedes Cabral and Nora Aunor star in this Brillante Ma Mendoza’s powerful and riveting piece of drama about a Bajau midwife who cannot bear a child and her journey in finding a new partner for her husband.

Set behind the serene and culture-driven ambiance of Sitangkai, Tawi-Tawi, the story was beautifully weaved with minimal dialogue but big scenes. It also boasts a compelling look as if you are in an immersion with the Bajaus.

No one creates an impact like the Superstar Nora Aunor: every movement she does is so crisp and her eyes are so rich in emotion (must-watched scene: Shaleha and Bangas-An lovemaking) that as a viewer, you'll be left magnetized by her raw and engaging performance. Bembol Roco's performance was also remarkable.

Overall, Mendoza has once again provided us with an intellectually well thought out work of art that stresses selfless love amidst a selfish world. And “Thy Womb” is an important Filipino film accompanied by breathtaking acting that leaves a big-time emotional punch.
