Chikkaness Review: IN NOMINE MATRIS - visually stunning, compelling work of art with powerhouse performances from its entire cast

A melodrama set in the world of Manila flamenco and cultural dance, IN NOMINE MATRIS stars Liza Diño as a young dance protégé who wished to be the principal dancer of a dance company but was soon immersed on a dilemma of the sacrifices she needs to make to achieve her dreams. She will be accompanied by her mentor Mercedes (Clara Ramona) and mother Ava (Tami Monsod) as she embarked on a journey that will test her principles in life.

Director Will Fredo over the top masterpiece features the best dance sequences ever presented in a Philippine movie. Their dance moves were authentically elaborated and you will be in awe with the seamless fusion of Philippines dances and Spanish flamenco. The musical scoring is magnificent that it perfectly enhanced the dramatic narrative and created an intense emotional impact on the audience.

Liza Diño as Mara is a revelation and I bet she's one of the tough contenders for the Best Actress race in the New Wave category. She has really thrown everything into her role that this could be considered her finest performance to date.

In Nomine Matris is visually stunning, compelling work of art with powerhouse performances from its entire cast. The film is currently being shown in Glorietta Cinemas until December 24 as one of the finalists in the New Wave Section of the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.
